The Camp Rosenbaum Fund is a non-profit organization registered with the Oregon Corporation Division and designated as a publicly supported organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Even with 34 years of success Camp Rosenbaum still depends on grassroots support from individuals and organizations to obtain the financial support we need for this very special group of kids.
Our goal is to raise funds to pay the expected out of pocket expenses for camp, which in 2004 was $43,600 not including in-kind donations. Our long-term goal is to continue investing surplus funds until we reach the point where we can rely on investment earnings to pay for our annual cash expenses.
Children attend camp free of charge. Donations are used to pay for the cash expenses of the camp in support the children and staff. This includes facilities rent, meals, camp clothing, supplies for leather, art and science projects, overnight campout supplies, horse feed, personal hygiene, photography, medical supplies, and miscellaneous items.
General and administrative expenses are less than 16 percent of our total expenses. Except for the young people who wash dishes during the week of camp, there are no staff costs. In addition to our community volunteers, the Housing Authorities, the Oregon National Guard, Portland Police Bureau and Gresham Fire Department provide staff for the week. Members of the board of directors all serve without pay.
